About The Position

The Senior Surgical Technologist is a critical member of the surgical team who assists during operative procedures by preparing the operating room, sterilizing instruments, and providing direct assistance to surgeons and nurses. This role requires a strong understanding of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient safety protocols. The Senior Surgical Technologist is the primary contact point for surgeons in the specialty improving the surgeon’s experience. Collaborate with vendors and materials management to identify cost reduction opportunities. Collaborate with CSS on instrument set needs, initiate changes to reduce costs. Coordinate service line instruments and equipment purchase needs. Subject matter experts. Functions as a team leader, preceptor and educator. Assists department leadership in the interviewing process, preparing and reviewing reports, performing QA audits, mentoring and oversight of staff development, managing department supply levels, and participating in meetings and workgroups.

Requirements

  • BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire (Required)
  • Licensed Surgical Tech valid in Virginia if practicing in Virginia (Required)
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Certifications - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Tech in Surgery TS-C - Certification - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) (Required)
  • 3 years of surgical tech experience required.
