The Surgical Tech Resource works under the supervision of the surgeon and RN. While in this Surgical Tech Resource position you will also: Assists surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical cases and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed. Assists in preparing and moving patients and sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment and rooms. Coordinates functions and activities for all surgical specialties; maintains appropriate supplies, instruments, vendor needs, and physician preferences. Covers specialty service in absence of RN specialty leader. Assists in orienting new hires and training staff for the surgical specialties, i.e. procedures, equipment, new technology and changes in clinical practice. Participates in strategic planning and related implementation activities. Previous OR Exp required- 2Y Min Previous experience scrubbing GEN/GU/GYN cases required Day to Day duties: This role will cover GEN/GU/ GYN service lines Scrub on all cases. Ortho heavy Dept. totals/trauma/ sports Medicine. Spine, Ortho Spine w/navigation (STEALTH,7D), Podiatry, Plastics, Endo, Cysto, Urology, GI, Robotics (DaVinci XI/MAKO, ROSA), Gen, ENT, Hands GYN, Urology. Associates are cross trained for all services, no specialized service Teams. Giving breaks and/or providing additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations. Assisting with Room turnover and restocking for next day’s cases. Maintain Sterile field during procedures. Handing instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeon’s needs. Maintaining and updating preference cards. 10 OR Suites +1 Cysto Room+1minor procedure room Approx. 600-700+ cases per month Schedule- 40hrs/Week- Variable shift times per surgical Volume and current unit needs Call required- Approx. 4-6 call shifts per 6 week schedule block. May Vary Weekend Call is 0700-1930, 1900-0730, weekday call 1900-0730 30 Min call back radius

Requirements

  • Two years of surgical tech experience
  • Computer skills required
  • HS/GED required
  • Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program
  • Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado.
  • A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech
  • Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • Physical Requirements-Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
