About the position

The Procedure Focused Certified Surgical Technologist is a multi-skilled health professional responsible for providing quality healthcare in surgical and clinical settings. This role involves both administrative and clinical tasks, including patient preparation, assisting during procedures, and ensuring a sterile environment. The Surgical Tech will work closely with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and improve quality of life through efficient care.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule time off appropriately and limit unscheduled absences.
  • Respond to telephone inquiries and return patient calls promptly.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring all necessary consents and supplies are ready.
  • Assist the physician during examinations and procedures, maintaining a sterile field and applying universal precautions.
  • Perform administrative duties, including documentation of patient communications and treatments.
  • Follow up with post-operative patients and provide aftercare instructions.
  • Maintain rooms, equipment, and supplies, ensuring cleanliness and proper inventory management.
  • Ensure patient and staff safety by following OSHA guidelines and universal precautions.
  • Assist in fiscal management of clinic resources to avoid unnecessary costs.
  • Collaborate with team members to promote increased patient volume in the Allergy Clinic.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology Program.
  • Current Surgical Technologist certification with no restrictions.
  • Current BLS Certification required; ACLS required if assisting in surgery outside of the clinic.
  • Knowledge of infection control, sterile technique, and basic health and safety precautions applicable for work in a clinic setting.
  • Ability to use and apply medical terminology appropriately.
  • Thorough knowledge of general clinical principles, methodology, and measures for outcomes.
  • Administrative skills necessary to effectively perform clerical tasks.
  • Prior ENT and/or Plastics surgical experience; knowledge of instruments and equipment used in specialty.
  • Ability to stand for up to eight hours a day and lift patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.
