Requirements

Previous OR Exp required- 6 months to 1 year minimum.
Previous experience with Neuro service line required.
Basic Computer skills required.
HS Diploma/GED required.
Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program required.
BLS from the American Heart Association required.
Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado (or performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration) required.
Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery (CST) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
Experience in a specialty field preferred.

Responsibilities

Work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN.
Assist surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical cases.
Pass items to surgeons and nurses as needed.
Assist in preparing and moving patients.
Sterilize and clean instruments, equipment, and rooms.
Be part of the Neuro Service line team.
Scrub primarily on Neuro Cases.
Cross-train for other specialties including Gen, Ortho (trauma) Neuro, Spine, Eyes, ENT, GU, Robotics (DaVinci XI/SI), Vascular, Endovascular, Cardiac, Trauma OB/GYN.
Give breaks and/or provide additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations.
Assist with Room turnover and restocking for next day’s cases.
Maintain Sterile field during procedures.
Hand instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeon’s needs.
Maintain and update preference cards.
