Requirements

  • Previous OR Exp required- 6 months to 1 year minimum.
  • Previous experience with Neuro service line required.
  • Basic Computer skills required.
  • HS Diploma/GED required.
  • Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program required.
  • BLS from the American Heart Association required.
  • Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado (or performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration) required.
  • Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery (CST) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
  • Experience in a specialty field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN.
  • Assist surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical cases.
  • Pass items to surgeons and nurses as needed.
  • Assist in preparing and moving patients.
  • Sterilize and clean instruments, equipment, and rooms.
  • Be part of the Neuro Service line team.
  • Scrub primarily on Neuro Cases.
  • Cross-train for other specialties including Gen, Ortho (trauma) Neuro, Spine, Eyes, ENT, GU, Robotics (DaVinci XI/SI), Vascular, Endovascular, Cardiac, Trauma OB/GYN.
  • Give breaks and/or provide additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations.
  • Assist with Room turnover and restocking for next day’s cases.
  • Maintain Sterile field during procedures.
  • Hand instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeon’s needs.
  • Maintain and update preference cards.
