As a Surgical Tech/Scrub Tech you will: Work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN. Assist surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical cases and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed. Assist in preparing and moving patients and sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment and rooms. Previous OR /Scrub experience Required Previous Leadership experience preferred Day to Day duties: This role will cover ENT, Dental and Maxillofacial service lines The Surgery department at Mercy Regional Medical Center is a Level III operating room that treats spine, ortho, ENT, GYN patients, a few eye surgeries, some dental, plastics and a mix of general surgical procedures. We have seven ORs with two dedicated to outpatient cases and are strictly surgical for patients one year old and above. We provide care to the Four Corners region and see patients from all over, including occasional trauma. Our department is service oriented, and we care for one another so we all can have a great quality of life and a safe work environment. To be part of this team, individuals must have strong OR skills, be honest, punctual, reliable and have a sense that every day they put their best foot forward for their community and patients. Requirements

  • Basic Computer skills required.
  • HS Diploma/GED required
  • Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program required
  • BLS from the American Heart Association required
  • Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech required
  • Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery (CST) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required
  • Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
  • Experience in a specialty field preferred.
  • Previous Leadership experience preferred
  • Robotics, Spine, General, Urology, Plastics, Orthopedics and total joint arthroplasty, sports medicine, ENT experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Scrub on all cases.
  • Primarily, Spine, Ortho (Totals/ Smaller Sports medicine cases), Robotics, Urology, plastics, ENT, GYN, Eyes, Dental, Gen.
  • Communicate case changes to staff, support, and coach staff to build confidence and growth.
  • Hold staff accountable to policy and high standard of practice.
  • Collaborate with the lead Anesthesiologist on daily case flow and efficiency.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of educational programs/ practices for department associates.
  • Act as leadership within the department to support staff, Manager and Director
  • Facilitating Training, Staff engagement, Supplies, Scheduling.
  • Giving breaks and/or providing additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations.
  • Assisting with Room turnover and restocking for next day's cases.
  • Maintaining sterile field during procedures.
  • Handing instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeon's needs.
  • Maintaining and updating preference cards.
