About The Position

The Certified Surgical Technologist III is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse according to the accepted clinical standards of care. The role involves checking supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures, scrubbing, gowning, and gloving, setting up sterile tables with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, and performing appropriate counts with the circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed. The position is based at AdventHealth Riverview, which is expanding its medical expertise and state-of-the-art technology to southern Hillsborough County through a brand-new hospital scheduled to open in 2024.

Requirements

• Successful Completion of accredited Surgical Technology program upon hire
• Minimum 6 years of CST experience
• Minimum 6 months skilled experience in at least 3 major surgical specialties (for example: Orthopedics, Robotics, Neurosurgery or Spine)
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Cert Operating Room
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) American Heart Association

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure
• Scrubs, gowns, and gloves
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure
• Displays knowledge of procedure and patient positioning
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants
