Ensure the smooth functioning of clinical operations by handling tasks that support the diagnostic, therapeutic, and procedural aspects of patient care. Allied Health - Health Services professionals work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services. These roles focus on the preparation, performance, and post-operative support to surgical teams. Responsibilities include sterilization, instrument preparation and handling, and or operational or hands-on support required during surgery. May work in our hospitals, surgical centers, and clinics, and have responsibilities from planning and preparation to recovery and follow-up. Does not include Perioperative Nurses. Differentiates between sterile and unsterile items processed by various sterilization methods. Demonstrates a basic level of surgical case preparation by reviewing the surgeon preference card and case cart, gathering surgical instruments, supplies and equipment needed for general surgical procedures. Provides safe patient care at a basic level. Demonstrates principles of aseptic technique and sterile conscience. Has basic knowledge of surgical procedures and patient anatomy. Demonstrates awareness of environmental safety practices for patient, self and team at all times. Able to take specialty certification exam upon completion of accredited surgical technology program.
