About The Position

The Surgical Technologist II (Operating Room Scrub Technician) sets up sterile field, gathers supplies for surgical cases, based on knowledge of instruments and equipment to be used. This position passes instruments to surgeons during surgery. This position also performs count procedures per policy during surgical cases. The Surgical Technologist II serves as a resource and preceptor to less experienced Surgical Technologists and takes call for routine and high acuity cases after orientation period. This role also learns, performs and completes assignments/responsibilities assigned during the transitional duty period. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Registered by the State Board of Medicine and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) or Certified Operating Room or Surgical Technician (CORST) certification. Certification or Registration Requirement for Continued Employment: Registration by the Virginia State Board of Medicine, Current AHA, BLS, HCP Certification Current CST; TS-C or CORST required

Requirements

  • Registered by the State Board of Medicine
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) or Certified Operating Room or Surgical Technician (CORST) certification
  • Registration by the Virginia State Board of Medicine
  • Current AHA, BLS, HCP Certification
  • Current CST; TS-C or CORST required
  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a Surgical Technologist or related scrub tech position
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program or a military training program or Licensed Practical Nursing Program

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years experience as a surgical technologist or related scrub technician position
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program
