About The Position

Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures. COMPANY DESCRIPTION Frye Regional Medical Center, located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina is a 355-bed acute care hospital, 81-bed Behavioral Health facility and more than 70 primary and specialty care providers. Schedule Weekend OR Desk Coverage: Saturday and Sunday 6am-6pm One 12-hour Shift Monday-Friday Clinical Case Coverage

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Certification for Surgical Technology with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
• Competent in at least 3 specialty areas.

Responsibilities

• OR Front Desk serves as the central communication hub for the Operating Room.
• This role manages incoming calls, coordinates case flow, monitors room status, supports surgical team communications, and ensures accurate documentation and timely escalations.
• Answer, triage, and route high‑volume calls (physicians, anesthesia, nursing, sterile processing, PACU, transport, materials, vendors
• Provide clear, professional updates on case status, room turnover, delays, and add‑ons.
• Monitor OR board and case schedule Desk‑based in OR core with frequent walking to check rooms/equipment
• Coordinate add‑on/urgent/emergent cases with charge RN, anesthesia, and surgeons; verify staff, room, equipment, and instrument availability.
• Document delays and reasons; escalate barriers (e.g., missing instruments, equipment down, patient not ready, transport delays
• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.
• Performs the role of the scrub technician.
• Uses principles of aseptic technique to establish and maintain a sterile field
• Facilitates efficient completion of the surgery schedule.
• Maintains organized work area and participates in daily unit duties.
• Competent in at least 3 specialty areas.
