About The Position

San Luis Valley Health is seeking a full-time Surgical Technician to join our surgery team! Surgical Technician, Non-Certified - $18.99 - $26.52 Surgical Technician, Certified - $20.94 - $29.24 The salary range displayed represents the typical salary of candidates hired. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range. This position will remain open until 03/31/2026.

Requirements

  • High School grad or GED
  • Graduation from a formal surgical tech program or equivalent experience
  • Registration with Department of Regulatory Agency (DORA), required.
  • Graduation from a formal accredited surgical tech program or equivalent experience
  • Basis Cardiac Life Support certification, upon hire required
  • Surgical Tech Certification within 1 year of hire, required

Responsibilities

  • Able to safely operate all electrosurgical equipment, diagnostic equipment, microscopic laser equipment, video equipment, and disposable equipment, as well as equipment unique to each specialty area.
  • Demonstrates principles of asepsis and sterile technique.
  • Prepares room, equipment & other necessary items for surgery.
  • Handles contaminated materials and sharps in accordance with established policy and recommended standards of practice.
  • Incorporates division/ unit protocols for specific patient populations in planning practice and documentation.
  • Understands the quality, safety, service and operational sustainability process within the hospital.
