About The Position

Texas Health Southwest seeks to hire a Certified Surgical Tech to work PRN NIGHTS in Labor and Delivery. The position involves providing peri-operative care for a diverse patient population, including infants, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. The Certified Surgical Technician will assist in various stages of surgical procedures, ensuring safety, infection control, and continuous improvement in care delivery.

Requirements

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009.
• Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, Vocational Nurse Program, or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology.
• 1 Year current operating room experience.
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist graduate of an accredited surgical tech program.
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009.
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology.
• LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse.
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.

• 1 Year current operating room experience.

Responsibilities

• Intra-operatively displays skills and behavior conducive to desirable outcomes.
• Assists in providing peri-operative care for a patient population that includes Infants, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics.
• Preoperatively assists R.N. circulator in formulating plan of care.
• Assists in coordinating patient care peri-operatively and assumes responsibility for behavior to maintain professional nursing practice standards.
• Follows proper procedures for care of instruments, supplies, and equipment post-operatively.
• Assists RN circulator with post-operative duties under supervision.
• Delivers nursing care in a manner that minimizes the risk of infection and accidental contamination.
• Delivers care in a manner that protects the patient from injury.
• Provides care with an emphasis on continually improving quality, service, and cost-effectiveness.
• Demonstrates competence in age-specific patient care.
