The Certified Surgical Technologist is an unlicensed member of the surgical team who scrubs and/or assists during surgical procedures. This position functions under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Certified Surgical Technologist provides direct and indirect patient care, for patients of all ages from pediatric to geriatric by assisting in the preparation of the patient and environment for the performance of surgical procedures. It is the Certified Surgical Technologist's responsibility to know the Surgeon's routine and preferences.   • Prepares rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment.
  • Assists the surgical team during operative procedures.
  • Opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedures.
  • Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies.
  • Drapes patients for surgical procedures. Maintains and cares for equipment and supplies. Documents maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs.
  • Consistently provides accurate and complete hand-off communication to any healthcare provider according to hospital policy.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), Tech in Surgery TS-C - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
