About The Position

The Surgical Technologist at St. Francis-Emory Healthcare plays a crucial role in the operating room by providing technical assistance and support to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and registered nurses during surgical procedures. Requirements

  • Graduate of a formal surgical technologist program, preferably an accredited program.
  • Certification as a surgical technologist (CST or TS-C) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • One year of OBGYN specific experience required.
  • Two years of experience as a surgical technologist preferred.
  • Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Assist surgeons and other medical staff in the operating room during surgical procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field and surgical instruments.
  • Ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available and functioning before surgery.
  • Monitor the patient's condition during surgery and report any changes to the surgical team.
  • Perform similar duties in other areas of the hospital as assigned.
