About The Position

The Pediatric Operating Room at Dell Children's Medical Center is seeking a dedicated professional to lead daily operations of surgical suites in support of surgical procedures. This role involves coordinating shift operations, preparing the surgical operating suite, assisting surgeons during surgery, and maintaining instruments in an organized manner. The position also includes performing staff orientation, training, and coaching, as well as providing input to staff performance evaluations.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • One or more of the following required: Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date; Surgical Assistant credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date; Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date; Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association preferred.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree with 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 3 years of experience preferred.
  • Plastics and Craniofacial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of surgical suites in support of surgical procedures.
  • Lead and coordinate shift operations including schedules and resources.
  • Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
  • Assist surgeons during surgery, providing required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon and assisting with hemostasis.
  • Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
  • Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
  • Perform staff orientation, training, and coaching. Provide input to staff performance evaluations.
