About The Position

As a Surgical Technician, you will perform the scrub role as a member of the Perioperative team, under the direct supervision of a registered nurse for selected tasks in the administration of patient care within the operating room suite. You will prepare for surgical procedures and arrange sterile set-up of the instrument table. The role requires the ability to work cooperatively with the surgical team and demonstrate competency in the practice of advanced level case assignment and advanced level equipment. Requirements

• Graduate from high school or equivalent program.
• Completion of Surgical Technologist course required.
• Surgical Technologist certification required.
• One year of experience.
• Current BCLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons by passing instruments, medications, supplies, holding retractors, and anticipating surgeons' needs during the course of surgery.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and aseptic environment for all patients.
• Assist the surgeon at the sterile field and the registered nurse during the surgical procedure.
• Act as a resource person for others in the department and actively participate in the preceptor role in the training of new personnel.
• Help coordinate special instrument needs between SPD and the OR for each specialty.
