Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology
- Surgical Technician Certification
- Meet the NJ requirements under the Surgical Technologist law to be considered for this opportunity.
- BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
Nice To Haves
- 1 year of surgical scrub experience
Responsibilities
- The Certified Surgical Technician will be responsible for a variety of technical and routine tasks that facilitate the patient's care.
- This position delivers care in a prompt and professional manner, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and respect.
- The Technician works as part of the care team to meet the needs of the customer and to support departmental objectives.
- Prepares for the pre-assigned cases using physician preference.
- Setting up the operating room before surgery.
- Opens supplies/instruments utilizing an aseptic technique.
- Pass instruments to surgeons during surgery.
- Follows established policies and procedures as it relates to counting sponges, instruments, etc.
- Initiates corrective action when counts are incorrect.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and communicate effectively with the team to ensure quality of patient care.
- Perform any other duties assigned.
