Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology
  • Surgical Technician Certification
  • Meet the NJ requirements under the Surgical Technologist law to be considered for this opportunity.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of surgical scrub experience

Responsibilities

  • The Certified Surgical Technician will be responsible for a variety of technical and routine tasks that facilitate the patient's care.
  • This position delivers care in a prompt and professional manner, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and respect.
  • The Technician works as part of the care team to meet the needs of the customer and to support departmental objectives.
  • Prepares for the pre-assigned cases using physician preference.
  • Setting up the operating room before surgery.
  • Opens supplies/instruments utilizing an aseptic technique.
  • Pass instruments to surgeons during surgery.
  • Follows established policies and procedures as it relates to counting sponges, instruments, etc.
  • Initiates corrective action when counts are incorrect.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and communicate effectively with the team to ensure quality of patient care.
  • Perform any other duties assigned.
