Learn About a Day in the Life of a Surgical Tech: Responsibilities The Certified Surgical Technician will be responsible for a variety of technical and routine tasks to facilitate the care of the patient. This position delivers care in a prompt and professional manner, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and respect. The Technician works as part of the care team to meet the needs of the customer and to support departmental objectives.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology.
  • Must have surgical technician certification.
  • Must meet the NJ requirements under the Surgical Technologist law to be considered for this opportunity.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Nice To Haves

  • The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 1 year of surgical scrub experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares for the pre-assigned cases using the physician's preference.
  • Setting up the operating room prior to surgery.
  • Opens supplies/instruments utilizing aseptic technique.
  • Pass instruments to surgeons during surgery.
  • Follows established policies and procedures as they relate to counting of sponges, instruments, etc.
  • Initiates corrective action when counts are incorrect.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and communicate effectively with the team to ensure the quality of patient care.
  • Perform any and all other duties assigned.
