Under the supervision of the OR staff, assists in the delivery of patient care during the interoperative phase according to the policies and procedures of the facility. May be called upon to help with the LDRP department in case of emergency staffing needs and the LDRP staff may be called on to help the main OR.

Requirements

• Graduate of a formal surgical technologist program required.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist required (CAAHEP, NCCT, NBSTSA).
• BLS Required (American Heart or American Red Cross).
• Hospital based Surgical Tech experience preferred; Experience in Labor & Delivery.
• Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assemble supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Prepare sterile instrument table for procedures.
• Assist in positioning patients and preparing patient's skin for surgery.
• Maintain sterile techniques and actively monitor situations that could lead to breaches in sterile technique.
• Assist the surgical team during procedures, including passing instruments, sponges, and sutures.
• Monitor the patient during procedures.
• Gather equipment for cleaning and sterilization after the procedure.
