About The Position

The Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) first assists the surgeon/physician in the performance of surgical procedures. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of human surgical anatomy and the development of surgical skills such as suturing, the proper use of surgical instrumentation, and the proper positioning of surgical patients. The CSA must possess a working knowledge of the principles of aseptic technique, as well as perioperative policies and procedural guidelines. Additionally, the CSA must have knowledge of surgical procedures and the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon. This position will be performed in a multi-specialty perioperative setting.

Requirements

  • Certified Surgical Assistant certification
  • Understanding of human surgical anatomy
  • Developed surgical skills including suturing
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation
  • Ability to position surgical patients properly
  • Working knowledge of aseptic technique
  • Familiarity with perioperative policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of various surgical procedures
