About The Position
This Sterile Processing Technician will be responsible for receiving, sorting, cleaning and decontaminating soiled reusable instruments, equipment and materials following manufacturer's instructions. Manually recording items/materials received in department logs. Loading, operating, and emptying cleaning and decontamination equipment such as automatic washers, endoscope reprocessors, cart washer and pasteurizers. Inspecting, preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments and other materials. Assembling trays and packets of instruments, medical supplies for surgical procedures according to standardized content lists and manufacturers guidelines. Loading and operating sterilizers, programming settings and monitors temperature and other critical readings during run cycle. May be asked to assume responsibility for leadership in the department in the absence of and/or in conjunction with CPD Manager. Plans, organizes and oversees daily operations. Monitoring work flow and prioritizing work assignments to meet established schedules and clinical requirements. Responding to customer requests and resolving problems as needed. May be assigned the charge role in the department. Managing the department work environment per established policy and procedures. Insuring safety of all personnel on duty. Prioritizing work production based on changing needs. Assessing, planning and implementing shift activities. Communicating and collaborating with shift personnel, department managers, OR staff and other personnel. Ensuring all required documentation is completed and accurate. Using all available resources to assist with problem solving and decision making. Trouble shooting and problem solving.
