About The Position

The Central Sterile department at Texas Health Allen is seeking skilled Certified Sterile Processing Techs. This is a PRN position with rotating and variable shifts, including on-call requirements. The department is described as diverse, fast-paced, and high-volume. Texas Health Allen is an 88-bed, acute-care, full-service hospital serving Collin County since 2000, specializing in robotic and minimally invasive surgery, advanced cardiology, orthopedic and spine services, and comprehensive women’s and infants’ care. It is an Accredited Chest Pain Center, a Joint Commission Acute Heart Attack Ready (AHAR) Disease specific Certification, a STEMI receiving facility, a Level II Maternal, Level II NICU, Chest Pain Accredited, a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, and a Pathways to Excellence-designated hospital. Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent required
  • CSPDT - Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician Upon Hire Req Or
  • CBSPD - Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution Upon Hire Req Or
  • CRCST - Certified Registered Central Service Technician Upon Hire Req

Nice To Haves

  • 1 Year sterile processing experience preferred
  • Experience working with Belimed and Censitrac software preferred
  • Sterile Processing certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs scanning of instrument trays for location and creation of count sheet/label.
  • Demonstrates proper assembly technique for instrument trays.
  • Demonstrates wrapping/containing of instruments/tray.
  • Performs scanning of instrument trays to track location using the instrument tracking system.
  • Demonstrates decontamination process according to policy and procedure.
  • Cleaning of instruments manually.
  • Using automated cleaners.
  • Ultrasonic washer.
  • Instrument washer.
  • Cart washer.
  • Performs tests and documents as directed to ensure proper operation of washers and Emergency Eyewash and Shower.
  • Demonstrates the proper loading technique for sterilization method.
