About The Position

Allegro Charter School of Music is seeking a full-time Certified Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. As a special education teacher at Allegro Charter School of Music, the successful candidate should deliver instruction in various settings. The successful candidate must be willing and able to educate students using a co-taught model as well as offer students more individualized and specialized instruction in a resource class outside of the general education setting. The successful candidate must collaborate with general education teachers to ensure effective differentiation of lessons for all students on their caseload. The candidate will deliver a curriculum based on goal-oriented and data-driven strategies effectively. They will be responsible for all case manager responsibilities related to a student's IEP. Those responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: maintaining a student's IEP through collaboration with the IEP team collecting data on annual IEP goals using collected data to drive curriculum decisions based on the student's needs communicating with parents through bi-quarterly progress reports communicating with general education teachers to ensure all IEP accommodations are implemented in the classroom scheduling annual review meetings and re-evaluations as necessary

Requirements

  • Dual Certified preferred.
  • Valid SC Teaching Certificate or ability to obtain a valid SC Teaching Certificate within three months of employment in the field(s) of assignment and highly qualified in the subject area hired to teach.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Strong technology skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Appreciation of music.
  • Physically capable of frequently lifting or moving up to 40 pounds
  • Sufficiently mobile to ensure the safety of students
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity to use a telephone and data entry
  • Read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone
  • Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone

  • Classroom experience is not required, it is strongly preferred.
