About The Position

The position involves engaging customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. The role focuses on resolving customer issues and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience. It includes modeling and sharing customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, emphasizing interpersonal habits such as greeting, eye contact, and courtesy, as well as Walgreens service traits like offering help proactively and servicing until satisfied. The position also requires developing strong relationships with the most valuable customers. In terms of operations, under the supervision of the pharmacist, the individual will assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Responsibilities include reviewing and complying with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct, entering patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine correctness, and checking for possible interactions. The role also involves assisting pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow, reporting prescription errors, and adhering to company policies regarding pharmacy errors. The individual will be responsible for registering all related sales on the cash register, handling cash, and assisting customers in locating products. Additional duties include processing manual claims for third-party prescription services, leading inventory management activities, and maintaining knowledge of company asset protection techniques. The position may also involve assisting pharmacists in administering clinical services and developing relationships with the local medical community.

Requirements

  • PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
  • One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Verify medicine correctness and check for possible interactions.
  • Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty.
  • Register all related sales on the cash register and handle cash.
  • Assist customers in locating products in the OTC aisle.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention.
  • Process manual claims for third-party prescription services.
  • Lead Pharmacy Department inventory management activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques.
  • Assist in analyzing and improving pharmacy financial and customer service performance data.
  • Assist in administering clinical services and coordinating with healthcare clinics.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the local medical community.
  • Support execution of the Pickup program.
  • Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, and orderly.
  • Coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in process efficiency.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
