Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required.
  • CRCST, CFER, or CER Scope Processing is required.
  • Minimum of 3-6 months experience with surgical and/or anesthesia procedures, instrumentation, and equipment is required.
  • Knowledge of Basic Medical Terminology, Surgical Instruments, and Medical Surgical Supplies.
  • Experience with endoscopes is required.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning of flexible endoscopes and instruments.
  • Transporting of endoscopes and dart carts.
  • Responsible, primarily for supporting the procedural area staff, to include physicians, nursing, by ensuring that all fiberoptic scopes and accessories are cleaned, high level disinfected or sterilized per protocol, maintained, fully operational, and available for use before the start of cases.
  • Performs processing and handling duties in accordance with departmental policy.
  • Provides prompt, courteous customer service.
  • Responsible for documentation for device tracking and process improvement efforts.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify device failures and malfunctions.
  • Effectively communicates and follows department policies for reporting malfunctioning devices and accessories or operational concerns.
  • Maintains annual competencies to ensure expertise in fiberoptic scope functions, processing and handling.
