About The Position

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides the full spectrum of anesthesia services independently, without anesthesiologist supervision, in alignment with Kansas state scope of practice laws. Working in a rural critical access environment, the CRNA supports inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and procedural care across a variety of clinical departments. This advanced practice nurse plays a vital role in ensuring safe, evidence-based, and compassionate anesthesia delivery for surgical and procedural patients.

Requirements

  • Proficient with ultrasound guided regional blocks and experience with obstetric anesthesia and emergent airway management.
  • Master’s or Doctorate in Nurse Anesthesia from an accredited program.
  • Current Kansas APRN license with CRNA designation (or eligible)
  • ACLS, BLS, and PALS

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in rural or critical access hospital settings.
  • 2-3 years of experience in independent or low-supervision CRNA practice preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Independently evaluate patients preoperatively to determine appropriate anesthesia plans.
  • Administer general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care across multiple specialties.
  • Perform and manage airway techniques, including endotracheal intubation and LMA insertions.
  • Place and manage regional anesthesia blocks (spinal, epidural, peripheral nerve blocks).
  • Manage intraoperative anesthetic care, continuously adjusting for patient needs.
  • Provide post-anesthesia recovery evaluation and management.
  • Partner with rural surgical teams, emergency staff, and specialty providers to coordinate care.
  • Participate in patient safety initiatives, case reviews, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Educate patients and families about anesthesia plans, risks, and postoperative recovery expectations.
