About The Position

The primary purpose of the Nurse Anesthetist (Certified Registered) position is to administer anesthesia and anesthesia-related care in four general categories: (1) pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation; (2) anesthesia induction, maintenance and emergence; (3) post-anesthesia care; and (4) perianesthetic and clinical support functions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia Education Program with a Master’s Degree in a related field.
  • Graduation from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education programs prior to January 1998 is acceptable.
  • Sufficient sensory capacity to observe the patient and patient monitors.
  • Effective communication skills in both academic and health care settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and function effectively in clinical practice uncertainties.

Responsibilities

  • Administer anesthesia and anesthesia-related care during pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation.
  • Conduct anesthesia induction, maintenance, and emergence.
  • Provide post-anesthesia care to patients.
  • Perform perianesthetic and clinical support functions.
