About The Position

In addition to his/her routine clinical duties as a staff Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), he/she is responsible for all quality initiatives and proactively and collaboratively promotes high quality, cost-effective anesthetic care by leading interactions with hospital medical staff and administration. Located in Salinas, California, Vantage Eye Center has a long tradition of offering the best eye care on California’s Central Coast. The doctors at Vantage Eye Center are recognized leaders in providing state-of-the-art medical and surgical eye care. The doctors at Vantage Eye use some of the most advanced technologies and techniques to treat patients at all stages of life. Comprehensive eye health services are provided by nationally recognized specialists in multiple fields of ophthalmology, including cataract surgery, vision correction, cornea, retina, glaucoma and oculoplastics.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the AANA Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
  • Successfully completed the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Council on Certification.
  • At least two years of independent experience.
  • ACLS/BLS/PALS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a collaborator and team member to accomplish applicable goals and functions of LifeLinc.
  • Develop standards for continuity of care and case management.
  • Remain compliant with rules and regulations as they pertain to the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Perform and document a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient.
  • Request consultations and diagnostic studies.
  • Select, obtain, order, or administer pre-anesthetic medications and fluids.
  • Obtain informed consent for anesthesia.
  • Perform conscious sedation/MAC anesthesia on outpatient and inpatient cases.
  • Manage a patient's airway.
  • Manage emergence and recovery from anesthesia.
  • Release or discharge patients from a post-anesthesia care area.
  • Provide post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care related to anesthesia side effects or complications.
  • Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency fluids or drugs, or using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.
  • Attend meetings as needed.
  • Work with peers to obtain required information on a timely basis and to solve outstanding issues.
  • Promote and contribute positively to the teamwork of the department.
