About The Position

In addition to his/her routine clinical duties as a staff Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), he/she is responsible for all quality initiatives and proactively and collaboratively promotes high quality, cost-effective anesthetic care by leading interactions with hospital medical staff and administration. The CRNA will work at Southern Surgery Center, which provides orthopedic and pain management procedures and has achieved its sixth consecutive three-year accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. The facility includes four operating rooms, one procedure room, nine pre-op bays, nine recovery bays, two overnight extended care rooms, and a training observation room. The case mix is ortho only, and the schedule consists of 4 - 10 hour shifts per week, Monday through Friday, as needed. There are no call requirements for this position, and malpractice professional liability will be covered by LifeLinc.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing and a graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the AANA Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
  • Successfully completed the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Council on Certification or its predecessor.
  • At least two years of independent experience.
  • ACLS/BLS/PALS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a collaborator and team member to accomplish applicable goals and functions of LifeLinc.
  • Develop standards for continuity of care and case management.
  • Remain compliant with rules and regulations as they pertain to the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Perform and document a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient, including requesting consultations and diagnostic studies.
  • Select, obtain, order, or administer pre-anesthetic medications and fluids; obtain informed consent for anesthesia.
  • Perform conscious sedation/MAC anesthesia on outpatient and inpatient cases.
  • Manage a patient's airway and manage emergence and recovery from anesthesia.
  • Release or discharge patients from a post-anesthesia care area, providing post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care related to anesthesia side effects or complications.
  • Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency fluids or drugs, or using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.
  • Attend meetings as needed and work with peers to obtain required information on a timely basis and to solve outstanding issues.
  • Promote and contribute positively to the teamwork of the department by assisting coworkers and contributing ideas.
