About The Position

In addition to his/her routine clinical duties as a staff Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), he/she is responsible for all quality initiatives and proactively and collaboratively promotes high quality, cost-effective anesthetic care by leading interactions with hospital medical staff and administration. This position will be a split position working at both Jefferson Memorial Hospital and Volunteer Surgery Center. This is a CRNA only practice.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the AANA Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
  • Successfully completed the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Council on Certification.
  • At least two years of independent experience.
  • ACLS/BLS/PALS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a collaborator and team member to accomplish applicable goals and functions of LifeLinc.
  • Develop standards for continuity of care and case management.
  • Remain compliant with rules and regulations as they pertain to the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists at local, state, and federal levels.
  • Perform and document a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient.
  • Request consultations and diagnostic studies.
  • Select, obtain, order, or administer pre-anesthetic medications and fluids.
  • Obtain informed consent for anesthesia.
  • Perform conscious sedation/MAC anesthesia on outpatient and inpatient cases.
  • Manage a patient's airway.
  • Manage emergence and recovery from anesthesia.
  • Release or discharge patients from a post-anesthesia care area.
  • Provide post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care related to anesthesia side effects or complications.
  • Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency fluids or drugs, or using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.
  • Attend meetings as needed.
  • Work with peers to obtain required information on a timely basis and to solve outstanding issues.
  • Promote and contribute positively to the teamwork of the department.
