About The Position

The position is for a part-time Anesthesiology Specialist within the AMG Specialist Group. The role involves providing anesthesia services, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care to patients. Responsibilities include the induction and maintenance of anesthesia, supporting life functions during anesthesia administration, and recording pertinent events. The specialist will also perform pre-anesthesia functions, post-anesthesia duties, and respond to emergencies. The position requires a Master's Degree in Nursing and specific certifications, including CRNA and PALS.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.
  • Nurse Anesthetist certification (CRNA) issued by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 6 months.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides anesthesia services, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care to patients.
  • Induces and maintains anesthesia at required levels.
  • Supports life functions during anesthesia administration, including induction and intubations.
  • Records all pertinent events during anesthesia.
  • Recognizes and takes corrective action for abnormal patient responses to anesthesia.
  • Performs pre-anesthesia functions, ensuring appropriate examinations and tests are completed.
  • Performs post-anesthesia duties, remaining with the patient until safe transfer of care.
  • Advises personnel on specific problems presented by the patient's condition post-anesthesia.
  • Administers post-operative epidural pain relief and collaborates with the surgeon.
  • Responsible for narcotic accounting and distribution.
  • Responds to life-threatening emergencies, establishing and maintaining an airway.
  • Assists nursing units with difficult IV insertions.
  • Maintains knowledge of scientific theory, research findings, and current practices.
  • Participates in departmental improvement processes when appropriate.
  • Performs patient positioning and transporting duties.
