About The Position

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist prepares prescribed solutions and administers anesthetic following specified methods and procedures. Informs physician of patient's condition during anesthesia. Performs pre- and post-anesthesia patient visits and documents anesthesia notes on patient records. The position offers a sign-on bonus of up to $50k for certain sites, available for external candidates. The CRNA will provide anesthesia care to a wide variety of patients from pre-term neonates to geriatrics, administer appropriate anesthetics in consultation with the attending anesthesiologist, and maintain adequate patient records. The role also involves participation in teaching activities and continuing education programs.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs approved programs of anesthesia.
  • Certified or recertified by the National Board on Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Insurable by the medical malpractice insurer of MUSC for the required limits.
  • Minimum education requirement is a master's degree or higher with a concentration in Nurse Anesthesia for those hired after March 1, 2019.
  • Demonstrate current competency in the clinical privileges extended.
  • Proficient in the operation of anesthesia equipment.
  • Current knowledge in anesthesia practice.
  • Exhibit basic knowledge of safety in a health care facility.
  • Knowledge and practice of universal precautions in patient contact.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with surgeons, residents, anesthesia personnel, and nursing staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pediatric and adult anesthesia care.
  • Familiarity with anesthesia machines and related equipment.
