About The Position

Compass Intervention Center is seeking a dynamic and talented Certified Recreational Therapist for our Acute Hospital. The Certified Recreational Therapist is responsible for assessing client’s leisure and recreational activities, providing age and developmentally appropriate therapy groups and establishing behavioral treatment goals in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Compass Intervention Center. The Certified Recreational Therapist creates a safe environment for clients, provides direct supervision of clients, empowers clients, and teaches new tools for coping to clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Leisure Management, Recreational Therapy or other related field.
  • Certified Recreational Therapist (CTRS) required.
  • One year experience in working with a mental health population.
  • Prefer Activity Therapy experience.
  • Prefer knowledge of group leadership skills, age specific growth and development, crisis and behavior management.

Responsibilities

  • Assess client’s leisure and recreational activities.
  • Provide age and developmentally appropriate therapy groups.
  • Establish behavioral treatment goals consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Compass Intervention Center.
  • Create a safe environment for clients.
  • Provide direct supervision of clients.
  • Empower clients and teach new coping tools.
  • Demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to groups providing care to varied populations including children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral, chemical dependency or dually diagnosed clients.
