About The Position

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is a professional who demonstrates a commitment in the assessment and management of mental health patients. They make independent and collaborative judgments in regards to the assessment, diagnosis and management of treatment for patients with psychiatric disorders, medical-mental conditions and substance abuse issues. He or she is expected to apply nursing and behavioral health policies when rendering care and providing health teaching to patients and families. This role involves evaluating patient needs, developing treatment plans, providing day-to-day patient management, informing psychiatrists on patient conditions, providing medication, and educating patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments. The practitioner may also conduct physicals, order tests, and serve as a patient's primary healthcare provider, interacting with a multidisciplinary team in a collegial manner.

Requirements

  • A graduate degree from an accredited college or university in psychiatric nursing required.
  • Previous mental health experience required.
  • Valid FBI clearance, PA criminal history check and child abuse history clearance required within 30 days of employment and every 2 years thereafter.
  • Participation in and completion of all CBH mandatory in-services (must be completed with three (3) months of hire and then annually from the date of the initial training).
  • Valid PA nursing licenses in good standing required.
  • Have worked in a Long-Term Nursing facility and/or In-Patient Psychiatric facility.

  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
