About The Position

A Certified Pool Operator (CPO) is a trained professional responsible for the safe and efficient management of swimming pools and related aquatic facilities. This role involves maintaining water quality, chemical balance, and sanitation standards to ensure a healthy environment for pool users. The CPO oversees routine inspections, operation of filtration and circulation systems, and adherence to local health regulations. Additionally, the CPO troubleshoots equipment issues, keeps detailed records of maintenance and chemical usage, and ensures compliance with all safety protocols. By staying informed about the latest industry practices and guidelines, the CPO plays a crucial role in preventing accidents and promoting overall pool safety. Position is PT-Seasonal (15-20/hours a week) from May to end of September, 2026.

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age with a High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current and valid ARC or equivalent CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
  • Strong customer service background and communication skills.
  • Minimum 1 year of previous commercial pool experience.
  • Overall knowledge of pool mechanical equipment & components, water clarity, and corrections.
  • Certified pool operator or equivalent certification required.
  • Must have your own reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies chemical balance, circulation, and water level in a city public swimming pool; adjusts as required to meet established standards.
  • Communicate with warranty holders to complete repairs and replacements.
  • Ensures all safety and rescue items are in place at the pool; replaces them as required; inspects lifeguard-related equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Prior-approval purchases of equipment or parts in accordance with company procedures.
  • Inspect bathrooms, showers, water fountains, and pool-related facilities for proper operation and make or report the need for repairs.
  • Estimates repair needs, including materials and supplies, required to effect the installation and repair of the swimming pool and related equipment.
  • Maintains accurate records of work performed, including chemical application and standardized test results; reports materials and supplies used, and maintains a basic inventory of required materials.
  • Contributes to the unit's service efficiency and effectiveness by offering suggestions and by directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
  • May perform a variety of related maintenance work, including carpentry, concrete placement and finishing, painting, and similar semi-skilled work in the maintenance of pool facilities.
  • Provides information to pool operations staff regarding pool equipment and chemical balances.
  • Maintains chemical readings records according to local laws and regulations.
  • Maintains proper water chemistry in accordance with local laws and regulations.
  • Inspect chemical feeders, filters, pumps, motors, valves, and other pool equipment for appropriate operation according to an established schedule; report the need for repair or make minor adjustments and repairs on-site with the Facility Supervisor and Director of Facility Operations.
