About The Position

Under the supervision of the Physical Therapist, the Certified Physical Therapy Assistant performs treatments and provides exercise instructions and demonstrations for inpatients, outpatients, Home Health patients, Nursing Home residents, and school kids.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of a Physical Therapist Assistant program
  • Certified in the State of Kansas or eligible for certification with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts
  • American Heart CPR Certified

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a CPTA or in the health field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides treatment as ordered in a safe, timely manner in accordance with the standards of practice for Physical Therapy.
  • Maintains equipment in proper working order and adapts the equipment to meet the needs of the patient.
  • Communicates with Physicians, other department staff, patients, and family members regarding patient progress, problems and plan.
  • Documents the treatment in concise format in accordance with Standards of practice.
  • Instructs the patient, family members, or other caregivers in therapeutic procedures and/or exercises to be continued upon discharge.
  • Assists in the referral process when additional services are required.
  • Supervises the work of the Physical Therapy Aides.
  • Requisitions supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field.
  • Possess interpersonal skills needed to function in a “team” setting
  • Creates a positive, supportive working atmosphere.
  • Works in harmony with assigned co-workers and other department’s staff.
