Overview Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting Phlebotomists with EKG experience to support inpatient services at the Long Beach VA Health Care System located at 5901 E 7th St, Long Beach, CA 90822. Services will be delivered across multiple inpatient departments and units on a variety of shift schedules. Responsibilities Perform proper specimen collection and labeling for routine and special procedures Conduct venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all age groups Collect specimens for urinalysis, 24‑hour urines, toxicology, microbiology, and other laboratory testing Ensure correct patient identification, tube selection, specimen volume, timing, and handling Accession specimens and ensure timely transport and distribution to laboratory sections Communicate with laboratory personnel during peak workload periods to ensure timely processing Maintain compliance with VA policies, infection control standards, and patient privacy regulations Perform resting EKGs for inpatient populations as needed Ensure proper lead placement and patient preparation Recognize basic abnormalities and report findings per protocol Explain procedures to patients to ensure cooperation and comfort Properly document completed EKGs in the VA electronic health record system Maintain and clean EKG equipment in accordance with facility standards Note: This role is primarily phlebotomy‑focused, with EKG duties performed as needed in the inpatient setting. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency (California CPT I or CPT II required) Completion of an approved phlebotomy training program Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience within the last 3 years 2–3 years of experience in an acute care or inpatient setting preferred Demonstrated proficiency in: Venipuncture and capillary collections Difficult draws and pediatric collections Urine drug screens and special collections Prior experience performing EKGs in a clinical setting required (formal EKG certification preferred but not required) Ability to pass VA background check, drug screening, and pre‑employment medical evaluation No sponsorship available Pay Range: $38.81 - $43.90 hourly All candidates must be able to: Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist Lift up to 20 lbs Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance Push/pull with 30 lbs of force All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
