About The Position

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting for a Phlebotomist to support the Dayton VA Medical Center located at 4100 West Third Street, Dayton, OH 45428. Available shift schedules include day shifts. Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of phlebotomy experience in a hospital or clinical lab setting
  • Experience with specimen collection, accessioning, and preparation
  • Comfortable working with elderly and difficult patient populations
  • Basic typing and computer skills
  • Fluent in English (read, write, speak)
  • All candidates must be able to: Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
  • Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
  • Lift up to 20 lbs
  • Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
  • Push/pull with 30 lbs of force

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy certification recommended but not required (NPA, ASPT, ASCP, or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Accurately identify patients using two identifiers
  • Perform venipuncture using proper technique and order of draw
  • Collect blood specimens ensuring adequate volume and minimal hemolysis
  • Label specimens correctly with required identifiers, date/time, and initials
  • Process specimens (aliquoting, storage, prep for transport) following DOT/OSHA guidelines
  • Accession specimens and perform basic computer/lab system tasks
  • Recognize and report adverse patient reactions immediately
  • Follow infection control, safety, and patient care standards
  • Interact professionally with elderly, ill, and difficult patients
  • Report patient safety incidents and labeling errors per VA policy
