About The Position

The Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Laboratory Assistant II is responsible for collecting blood specimens and processing them for laboratory testing. This role involves interacting with patients from diverse backgrounds and handling various laboratory tasks, including specimen accessioning, computerized patient registration, and post-analytic duties such as report distribution. The technician must maintain a clean and safe work environment while adhering to all regulations and policies to ensure optimal patient care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• California Licensed Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) I or II.
• 1 year of basic clinical laboratory and phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood specimens and processes them for laboratory testing.
• Interacts with patients of diverse ages and backgrounds.
• Receives, sorts, and accessions specimens for testing.
• Completes computerized tasks related to patient registration and test order entry.
• Performs basic post-analytic tasks, including distributing reports and managing specimens.
• Completes quality-related tasks such as documentation and maintaining a safe work area.
• Operates basic pre-analytic lab equipment.
• Adheres to local, state, and federal regulations to ensure patient privacy and safety.
