About The Position

The laboratory assistant at UCI Health is responsible for obtaining and processing clinical specimens for testing and performing various clerical duties within the clinical laboratory. This role operates independently while also assisting other personnel in the overall operation of the laboratory. Key duties include delivering reports to nursing units and communicating with responsible health care providers through mail, telephone, and fax. The position functions under the direct supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor and the Administrative Director, Laboratory.

Requirements

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
• Valid Certified Phlebotomy Technician Certificate Issued by the state of California Department of Health Services
