For more information, visit www.centinelamed.com . Responsibilities CPT I must follow the CA Codes (bpc: 1246); (CCR 1034) to work in the laboratory. The Certified Phlebotomy Technician I work more frequently with patients and collects samples for analysis in the clinical laboratory and is under the supervision of a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist. This person performs: 1) computer entry, filing, telephone communication and other clerical duties, 2) may work alone or in various size groups on any shift on any day of the week under direct supervision of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, 3) should demonstrate adequate knowledge of the usual terminology of tests ordered in the laboratory, 4) demonstrate good telephone etiquette and be able to greet patients and other visitors in a polite and friendly manner, 5) have good communication skills, 6) demonstrate good working knowledge of phlebotomy and the equipment used in collecting specimens from newborns to geriatric patients, 7) processing microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry and blood bank specimens, 8) processing specimens for reference laboratory, 9) stocking and ordering of routine supplies, 10) keep storage areas, trays, centrifuges, refrigerators, freezers and collection areas clean, 11) must be able to move throughout the facility without assistance and perform blood collection in a safe and efficient manner, 12) process or place specimens on laboratory instrumentation in accordance with established policy and procedures. Special projects or other assignments may be given with expectations to be completed in a specified timeframe.
