About The Position

We are seeking a Certified Phlebotomist to provide high-quality specimen collection and front-line laboratory support across multiple patient service locations. This role requires excellent patient interaction skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in both fixed and mobile settings. The ideal candidate will deliver service excellence while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and patient safety.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License at time of hire
  • Acceptable driving record per Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) guidelines
  • Completion of driver safety training upon hire and every two years thereafter
  • Completion of a basic phlebotomy training program with hands-on clinical experience or equivalent work experience
  • Phlebotomy certification (preferred) or certification in a related field with phlebotomy training
  • Successful completion of a Medical Terminology assessment
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and keyboarding

Responsibilities

  • Serve as front-line laboratory support while delivering excellent customer service
  • Communicate professionally and confidentially with patients, physicians, clients, and staff
  • Collect blood specimens from ambulatory and bedridden patients using venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks
  • Collect throat culture swabs and instruct patients on proper at-home specimen collection (e.g., stool samples, 24-hour urine collections)
  • Process laboratory specimens following established protocols, including centrifugation, serum/plasma separation, and temperature control
  • Accurately register patient demographics and insurance information in the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
  • Enter physician laboratory orders correctly under the appropriate patient account
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Medicare Medical Necessity requirements, and phlebotomy best practices
  • Rotate across multiple laboratory collection sites (minimum of three) and independently open and close assigned locations
  • Communicate with physician offices and clients to verify specimen details, patient information, diagnoses, and test requirements
  • Identify specimen issues within scope and escalate concerns to supervisory staff when necessary
  • Perform occasional STAT blood draws at nursing homes, patient homes, or physician offices as assigned
  • Participate in on-call rotations as required
  • Fill and manage supply orders for collection sites and clients
  • Maintain adequate inventory and ensure phlebotomy areas are clean, safe, and well stocked
  • Collaborate effectively with laboratory staff and affiliated partners
  • Consistently provide professional, compassionate service to patients, families, visitors, and coworkers
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet operational needs
