This role functions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and may include responsibilities for controlled substances, billing, and precepting new staff.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication safety, and regulatory compliance
  • Effective communication and precepting skills
  • Competency in pharmacy technology and software systems
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in handling hazardous medications and adherence to safety protocols
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role.
  • LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech Registration or licensure as a Pharmacy Technician with the applicable State Board of Pharmacy required, where mandated by state law. Upon Hire
  • PHAR-C - Certified Pharmacy Tech National pharmacy technician certification from an accredited certifying body (PTCB or NHA) Upon Hire

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree in related healthcare field
  • 3-5 years experience as a pharmacy technician

Responsibilities

  • Refills and maintains automated dispensing systems
  • Prepares and fills medication orders, including controlled substances, under pharmacist supervision
  • Supports medication billing, charges, and inventory records
  • Prepares prepackaged and bulk medications with correct labeling
  • Oversees restocking and maintenance of pharmaceuticals in compliance with standards
  • Assists in training and competency assessments of new or junior technicians
  • Participates in quality assurance and process improvement activities
  • Responds to inventory and regulatory documentation requirements
