About The Position

Performs various technical and customer-focused functions in an outpatient pharmacy setting, including prescription processing, medication dispensing, patient support services, and operational tasks under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Emphasizes ambulatory care services such as medication adherence support, synchronization programs, home delivery coordination, curbside pickup, and exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of Pharmacy Technician program or equivalent education. Required
  • PHRMTECH-R - Registered Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire Required
  • Experience in patient care as obtained through completion of a Pharmacy Technician program Required or
  • Minimum 1 year experience previous experience as Pharmacy Technician. Required

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance and performs technical pharmacy services under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Accurately fills and prepares outpatient prescriptions and medication orders, selecting medications from stock, counting/packaging quantities, labeling, and presenting for pharmacist verification.
  • Processes prescription intake, including reading and interpreting physician orders, entering data into computerized systems, and managing refills.
  • Operates pharmacy software and computerized data systems for order entry, patient profile management, billing/charging, and retrieving information.
  • Supports medication adherence initiatives, including enrolling patients in medication synchronization (med sync) programs, aligning refill dates, preparing adherence packaging (e.g., blister packs), and conducting patient outreach for refill reminders.
  • Coordinates patient convenience services such as home delivery arrangements, and curbside pick-up.
  • Delivers outstanding customer service by interacting courteously with patients (in-person, over the phone, or via digital channels), answering inquiries, resolving issues, and promoting patient satisfaction in line with service standards.
  • Assists in inventory control, including ordering, receiving, stocking, rotating stock, checking for outdated medications, and maintaining perpetual inventory records.
  • Receives, transports, and stores pharmacy-related items; replenishes stock in dispensing areas and ensures proper storage conditions.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe pharmacy work environment, utilizing supplies cost-effectively and reporting equipment issues.
  • Manages billing and insurance processes, including posting charges, adjusting patient profiles, troubleshooting rejections, and crediting unused medications.
  • Works collaboratively with patients, healthcare providers, and pharmacy team members to coordinate care and implement activities efficiently.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information and adheres to all organizational policies (e.g., HIPAA, compliance, safety, and infection control).
  • Completes required training, education, and performance improvement activities; responds to opportunities for process improvement.
  • Provides coverage for shifts, including potential evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed to ensure continuous operations.
  • Assists in orienting and supporting students, new staff, or ancillary personnel as required.
