Performs tasks within the pharmacy in direct support of the ongoing duties and responsibilities of a pharmacist with occasional guidance. Tasks performed contribute directly to the preparation and/or dispensing of a final dosage form for administration to a patient and are directly supervised by a pharmacist. Provides customer service by answering phone requests and triaging calls to the appropriate person if they cannot answer the requested information. Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control. Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is seeking a Certified PRN Technician to join our Inpatient Pharmacy team! Position Highlights Day shift 6:00am - 2:30pm. Weekend and holiday rotation. 24/7 inpatient pharmacy that provides care to admitted pediatric patients. Technician responsibilities include but are not limited to; stocking automated medication dispensing cabinets, compounding both nonsterile and sterile medications, contributing to batch/stat preparation, delivery to bedside, and assisting the pharmacist as needed. Dedicated training for each aspect of medication preparation and dispensing will be provided. Focused small group training provided to ensure competency in compounding sterile medications, within a sterile/cleanroom environment. Hospital experience is preferred. Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician through either PTCB or NHA in order to be considered.

  • Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications.
  • Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.
  • Performs activities as directed by Pharmacists &/or Pharmacy Managers in accordance with federal, state and local laws/regulations and hospital policies.
  • Delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Operates computer systems and utilizes technology.
  • Must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician through either PTCB or NHA in order to be considered.

  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Hospital experience is preferred.
