Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Employment experience required:
- Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained and maintained including required continuing education credits.
- Act 34
Responsibilities
- Collaborate daily with nursing staff, physicians, and other hospital personnel to support patient care.
- Travel between UPMC Pinnacle facilities as needed to complete pharmacy activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment, including restocking, cleaning, and medication management.
- Prepare, label, and dispense medications, including non-sterile compounds, IV admixtures, and specialty products under pharmacist supervision.
- Fill and manage automated dispensing cabinets, interdepartmental orders, and medication deliveries.
- Inspect and remove expired or recalled medications, ensuring proper documentation.
- Assist in training staff and pharmacy students on procedures and best practices.
- Operate pharmacy equipment effectively, including pneumatic tubes, computers, and automated dispensing systems.
- Adhere to proper handling procedures for controlled substances and ensure accuracy in documentation.
- Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives and promote UPMC Pinnacle's mission, vision, and values.
