Under the direction and supervision of a pharmacist, you will assist with the preparation, dispensing, charging, and delivery of medications for patients of all ages. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Employment experience required:-
- Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained and maintained including required continuing education credits.
- Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Act 34
Responsibilities
- Collaborate daily with nursing staff, physicians, and hospital personnel across UPMC Pinnacle.
- Travel between UPMC Pinnacle facilities (as mutually agreed) to support pharmacy operations.
- Support departmental Performance Improvement initiatives and promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of UPMC Pinnacle.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized pharmacy (restocking, cleaning workstations, returning medications to stock).
- Complete required documentation, including medication credits, charge forms, logs, and controlled substance records.
- Fill, inspect, and restock medications in automated dispensing cabinets; remove expired or recalled medications.
- Prepare, label, repackage, and distribute medications (including non-sterile compounds and sterile IV admixtures) under pharmacist supervision.
- Assist with specialty and sterile product preparation (e.g., chemotherapy, epidurals) once trained, using proper aseptic technique.
- Deliver medications to patient care areas and process interdepartmental orders accurately and efficiently.
- Provide customer service support by answering phones, monitoring pneumatic tube systems, and assisting with training of staff and students.
