About The Position

The Certified Pharmacy Technician at TJS Inpatient Pharmacy is responsible for filling patient orders, maintaining drug stock, and delivering medications under the supervision of staff pharmacists. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to follow established procedures while ensuring accuracy in medication handling. The technician will also be involved in inventory control and may assist in aseptic compounding of sterile dosage forms. The position includes a weekend rotation and is based in Glasgow, KY.

Requirements

• GED or High School Diploma required.
• CPhT certification required.
• Previous experience in hospital or community pharmacy highly desirable.
• Some college work in life sciences desirable.
• Previous computer experience desirable.
• Knowledge of basic medical and pharmaceutical terminology and basic pharmacy calculations required.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with basic equipment such as typewriter and electronic calculator.

Responsibilities

• Fills patient orders, floor stock, and unit dose medication carts for terminal check by a registered pharmacist.
• Enters charges and credits onto patient profiles via CRT.
• Delivers patient medications from the pharmacy and returns orders and other pharmacy-bound materials.
• Maintains drug stock within the pharmacy.
• Accurately fills requisitions and maintains proper stock in picking areas.
• Performs sorting and filing functions as needed.
• Delivers controlled substances to nursing units and obtains nursing signatures.
• Prepares proof-of-use forms based on unit needs.
• Maintains temperature logs and compliance with 797 regulations.
• Communicates effectively and organizes time to meet changing workload demands.
