This position provides peer recovery support to individuals in need, assisting them in accessing resources, preventing relapse, and maintaining ongoing engagement in recovery services. The role involves completing screenings on consumers to determine referral needs, linking them to appropriate services, and coordinating transportation when necessary. The specialist will also assist consumers in identifying early warning signs and developing strategies to prevent relapse, while providing ongoing follow-up to promote recovery, resiliency, and support. A key aspect of the role is promoting peer recovery in the community and within programs, working to break down stigma and identify individuals who could benefit from treatment or support services. Additionally, the position provides paraprofessional support to help consumers develop coping skills, self-help skills, and communication skills.
