San Dimas Community Hospital is nationally recognized, locally preferred, and community focused. Under the supervision of a pathologist and in accordance with California Business and Professions Code §1269.3, the Pathology Assistant is responsible for the preparation, gross examination, and dissection of human surgical specimens. The role also includes conducting postmortem examinations, selecting appropriate tissues and fluids for analysis, collecting data for autopsy reports, and preparing bodies for release and managing laboratory operations. Competency must be validated upon assignment, at six months, and annually thereafter. The Pathology Assistant also processes surgical pathology specimens including dissection, description, and embedding for pathologist’s diagnosis. Performs other related duties as required. Special projects or other assignments may be given with the expectation to be completed within a specified timeframe.
