Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Assistant Program.
• Successful completion of certification/state licensure process for Physical or Occupational Therapy Assistants.
• Must be able to read regulations and write clearly.
• Must be able to communicate in courteous, friendly manner.
• Ability to effectively manage and direct subordinates.
• Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, governmental agencies/personnel and the general public.
• Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures necessary for providing quality resident care.

Responsibilities

• Treats patients as directed by a licensed therapist.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude and a collaborative team building approach with all patients, clients and team members.
• Maintains productivity standard as determined by supervisor and clinical needs.
• Demonstrates consistent knowledge and application of Medicare and other reimbursement regulations.
• Develops effective treatment plans with functional, goal based outcomes and ensure approval/orders for services from referring physicians.
• Record clinic documentation according to accepted regulatory and professional guidelines.
• Record daily treatment charges per approved billing guidelines.
• Instruct families and nursing staff regarding restorative/home programs as directed by staff therapists.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, and other meetings as required or directed.
• Coordinates with members of other departments, attending physicians, and other staff within Rehab department.
• Assures that the equipment and supply needs of the department are maintained and any change of needs is recommended to the administrator.
• Assure that the facility as well as rehab area is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
• Is 'on-call' status during time away from work, such as after working hours or during days off.
